The Early Days of Discovery
InterX Therapy & Training Center was first explored in a small but impactful space—two treatment rooms and a training center within our original manufacturing plant, NRG. Here, Janice Walker, OTR and Founder worked directly with patients, trained healthcare professionals, and conducted groundbreaking two-day workshops.
This period was crucial for testing and refining our approach to treating both acute and chronic conditions, including trigeminal neuralgia, CRPS, low back pain, plantar fasciitis, EDS/Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, sinusitis, and even cosmetic applications.
Pilot studies shaped our understanding of the body’s ability to heal when pain pathways are rewired. However, as demand grew, we realized patients struggled to locate our center. To better serve our community, we relocated to a dedicated medical space near major hospitals and clinics. This move marked a turning point as we began filing insurance claims and expanding accessibility to more patients.
Building a Stronger Foundation
With a new 700 sq. ft. office, referrals began pouring in—especially from a pioneering neurosurgeon excited by the success of our Low Back Study. This support helped us integrate into the medical community, where we refined treatment protocols and developed the multi-pad approach, now a cornerstone of InterX therapy.
This era also saw major breakthroughs in insurance coverage. We established strong relationships with medical professionals, including an RN managing American Airlines pilots’ medical care, helping countless pilots return to work post-injury. During this time, both InterX devices and treatments were covered by major insurance carriers, making neurostimulation therapy more widely available.
The Fight for Growth
As demand increased, we persuaded NRG to expand our space, upgrading to a facility with three treatment rooms and additional staff to enhance patient care. The clinic was thriving, with continuous advancements in treatment best practices and patient outcomes.
However, the journey was not without obstacles. When we proposed buying out the clinic from NRG, our request was denied. Instead, NRG made the shocking decision to shut down InterX operations entirely. Faced with the possibility of losing everything we had built, we knew we had to act.
The Era of Innovation
Determined to continue our mission, a small yet passionate group of individuals, which included Janice Walker at the helm, acquired NRG, the InterX name, and all assets, officially transitioning to InterX Technologies.
This marked the birth of the InterX Therapy & Training Center as an independent entity.
With a new facility designed from the ground up, we created a space that blends hands-on therapy with world-class training. Our goal was not just to treat patients but to train medical professionals, caregivers, and individuals in our advanced neurostimulation methods.
Today, we continue to expand our reach, refining multi-device treatment methods, advancing research, and training the next generation of practitioners. Through every step of our journey, we’ve remained committed to one mission: rewiring pain, restoring function, and empowering lives.
