Tommy Thompson was a successful and recognized leader in the medical device industry. His 30 years as a President and CEO has included 5 years as a Division President for Baxter Healthcare, and 18 years with Quest Medical (now Advanced Neuromodulation Systems, Inc.) of which he was a founder. Tommy brought to NRG a wealth of experience that has included private funding, strategic alliances and three public offerings.
Tommy co-founded two companies that manufactured products for intravenous drug delivery, cardiovascular surgery, and implantable neurostimulation. In the US, Tommy was co-founder and founding chairman of the Medical Device Manufacturing Association, which played a key role in the legislative reform of the FDA in 1997 and the reform of Group Purchasing Organization practices in 2002. With his roots in electronic engineering, Tommy was also responsible for major development programs in microprocessor-based instrumentation and sterile, disposable medical devices. Tommy received his B.S.E.E. from the University of Texas and held 16 patents.
Tommy passed away in November 2014. He made countless contributions to NRG and throughout his career to the Medical Industry as a whole. We will miss his friendship and guidance.
